Snowflake Sugar Cookies

27 Nov 2023

5 MINS

10 MINS

Makes 12

INGREDIENTS
250g all-purpose flour
125g unsalted butter, softened
100g granulated sugar
1 egg
5ml vanilla extract
Pinch of salt
Icing sugar for dusting (optional)
Assorted food colouring and sprinkles (optional)

METHOD

1. Mix the softened butter, sugar, egg, vanilla extract, flour, and salt until a dough forms. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 5mm thickness.

2. Use snowflake-shaped cookie cutters to cut out shapes from the dough

3. Preheat your oven to 180°C.  Place the snowflake cookies on a parchment-lined baking sheet.

4.Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for approximately 8-10 minutes or until the edges turn lightly golden.

5. Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes. Transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

HANDY TIP

You can create all sorts of designs using coloured icing for these sugar cookies or  half dip in chocolate. Use writing icing for very intricate designs or use sprinkles for a instant burst of colour.
