Air Fryer Crispy Chili Honey Halloumi Bites

Air Fryer Crispy Chili Honey Halloumi Bites

12 Nov 2024

10-15 MINS

8-10 MINS

2-4

INGREDIENTS
200g halloumi cheese
2 tablespoons plain flour
1 egg, beaten
50g panko breadcrumbs
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon chili flakes (adjust to taste)
Salt and pepper
2 tablespoons honey
1 tablespoon chili sauce (e.g., sriracha)

METHOD

1.    In a shallow bowl, mix the plain flour with a pinch of salt and pepper.

2.    In another bowl, place the beaten egg.

3.     In a third bowl, combine the panko breadcrumbs with smoked paprika, garlic powder, chili flakes, and a pinch of salt.

4.     Pat the halloumi cubes dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.

5.     Dredge each halloumi cube in the flour, then dip it into the beaten egg, and finally coat it with the seasoned panko breadcrumbs. Press the breadcrumbs onto the halloumi to ensure an even coating.

6.     Preheat your air fryer to 200°C for 3-5 minutes.

7.     Place the coated halloumi cubes in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring they do not touch. You may need to cook them in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.

8.     Air fry the halloumi at 200°C (390°F) for 8-10 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. Shake the basket halfway through to ensure even cooking.

9.     While the halloumi is cooking, combine the honey and chili sauce in a small bowl. Adjust the amount of chili sauce according to your spice preference.

10.     Once the halloumi bites are crispy and golden, remove them from the air fryer and immediately drizzle them with the chili honey glaze.

11.     Toss gently to coat. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve with lime wedges and extra chili sauce for dipping.

TIP

For added sweetness and a bit of flair, drizzle with a touch more honey and sprinkle chili flakes on top before serving.
